The Builders Group: A Legacy of Growth and Innovation

Since our founding in 1997, The Builders Group (TBG) has grown from a small self-insured fund into a leading provider of construction-related insurance solutions. As one of the first employees of the fund, CEO Stu Thompson, has played a key role in TBG’s expansion.

Under his leadership, the company experienced rapid growth by educating Agents on the benefits of self-insurance, ultimately strengthening our position in the industry. Today, TBG continues to grow, providing proactive claims management, top-tier services and unmatched support for our Members.

Looking ahead, Thompson envisions a future where TBG expands its reach and continues to contribute meaningfully to the industry. From enhancing our Education Foundation to encouraging young professionals to explore careers in the trades, TBG is committed to making a lasting impact.

With a focus on innovation, service and industry leadership, we will continue to serve as a trusted partner for construction businesses across Minnesota. Watch the full video to hear more about TBG’s journey and future goals.

NurseCare Hotline

Request Our Complimentary NurseCare Packet

We know that workplace injuries don’t follow a schedule. That’s why we offer the TBG NurseCare Hotline, which provides 24/7 access to professional medical advice and reporting—at no cost to our Members.

When an injury occurs, the NurseCare Hotline quickly assesses the situation and ensures workers receive the right level of care. This service helps improve recovery outcomes, reduce claims costs and keep workers safe.

Always Call 911 First for Any Life-Threatening Situation

While the NurseCare Hotline is staffed with medical professionals, they can’t save your life over the phone. Call 911 if symptoms include:

  • Choking
  • Severe bleeding
  • Chest pain or discomfort
  • Seizure or convulsions
  • Off balance or unable to walk
  • Unconsciousness or disorientation
  • Hot, dry skin
  • Profuse sweating
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Any other medical condition you feel is an emergency

If 911 is called, the employee or supervisor can call the NurseCare Hotline after the incident to report the injury.

How it Works

1) WHEN INJURED: Contact your on-site supervisor and call the NurseCare Hotline together.

  • If your supervisor is unavailable, contact the NurseCare Hotline on your own.
  • The call should be made as soon as possible.

2) ASSESSMENT: Following specially designed question-and-answer protocols, the nurse will determine the seriousness and nature of your injury and the best way to address it.

3) TREATMENT: If you can safely return to work, the nurse will provide first aid (self-care) instructions, and if your supervisor is available, you should explain it to them.

4) OFF-SITE TREATMENT: If the nurse feels further evaluation or treatment is needed, they will refer you to a medical facility near you. They may also provide self-care instructions until you see a doctor. These will also be explained to your supervisor if available.

5) FOLLOW-UP: Keep the NurseCare Hotline number handy in case your symptoms change or worsen. Please feel free to call back with any questions, changes in conditions or concerns.
