When TBG was founded, it wasn’t just to offer another insurance option. It was to meet a critical need in Minnesota’s construction industry. As traditional carriers began pulling out of the state, contractors were left without reliable, locally focused coverage. That’s when a group of industry leaders came together to create something better: a self-insured workers’ compensation fund built by contractors, for contractors.
That vision became The Builders Group.
Today, TBG continues to grow, not just in numbers, but in its impact. With a Member-led Board made up of contractors who understand the job firsthand, we operate with one goal in mind: to protect our Members, improve jobsite safety and strengthen the overall construction industry in Minnesota.
